Lemony Yellow Flower Lawn Ground Cover

Ground covers come in a range of flowering and non-flowering varieties including some with light yellow flowers. Though grass is the most common groundcover, sometime growing conditions are not optimal for growing grass. A number of other groundcovers work well to cover problem lawn areas.
  1. Identification

    • Bicolor epimedium (Epimedium x versicolor Sulphureum) is among the yellow blooming ground covers. The plant is also referred to as bicolor barrenwort.

    Description

    • The groundcover is a herbaceous perennial with a mature height of about 6 to 12 inches with an equal spread. The heart shaped, compound foliage is mottled with shades of red and green. The plant blooms during spring with light yellow flowers borne on spikes. Bicolor epimedium has a clumping growth habit and spreads with rhizomes.

    Growth Conditions

    • The plant is well adapted to growing in USDA Zones 5 to 9 and has a moderate growth speed. Grow the groundcover in areas of moderate shade and in a well-drained, fertile soil. The plant is well tolerant of drought.
