Will Rosemary Get Rid of Ladybugs?

Rosemary is an evergreen woody herb with narrow green leaves and blue-white flowers. Rosemary attracts some insects and repels others. Rosemary will not get rid of ladybugs. On the contrary, rosemary and ladybugs are good companions.
  1. Ladybugs

    • Ladybugs are small beetles that are commonly found on plants. Most ladybugs are beneficial insects because they feed on aphids, mites, mealy bugs and other insect pests. They can be a nuisance when they travel into homes or accumulate in clusters on buildings. They are attracted to rosemary, goldenrod, yarrow and other flowering plants.

    Attractant

    • Rosemary pollen and nectar attract ladybugs and other beneficial insects such as lacewings, damsel bugs, and parasitic wasps that feed on insect pests. These predatory insects offer natural pest control. Rosemary flowers are fragrant and draw pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

    Repellent

    • Rosemary is a garden companion plant that, when planted near vegetables, repels carrot flies, Mexican bean beetles and cabbage moths. Some gardeners snip off rosemary branches and put them on the ground in hopes of repelling slugs and snails.
