How to Stop Small Black Flying Insects From Eating Herbs

The spicy scent of herbs is a magnet not just for gardeners but also for a multitude of insects. Some of these insects like ladybugs are beneficial since they chow down on pests in great quantities, but unpleasant tiny, black flying insects like aphids are particularly attracted to roses as well as herbs. The best defense against these insects is to ensure that there is good air circulation between the herbs and that you don't splash water on the leaves when watering the plants.

Liquid soap can help in the fight against pests.

Don garden gloves and spray the insecticidal soap over any small, black insects that may be clinging to the herbs. Spray well. The insects often shrivel up on contact and should be dead by the next day.
