Parsley spreads through seeds, either naturally or through planting. This herb does not propagate through stems or underground runners. The roots produce a bunch of aboveground stems.
Parsley grows best when planted in an area with six to eight hours of direct sunlight per day. Plant parsley seeds in well-draining soil with lots of organic material, like compost.
Clip the parsley stalks close to the ground with a sharp pair of scissors. Work from the outside toward the center of the bunch; this encourages growth of more stalks. When only the tops are picked, the parsley bunch declines rather than being rejuvenated.
