How to Prune and Harvest Cilantro

Cilantro is a tender, annual herb that grows up to 2 feet. It is used in many recipes, particularly in Italian food. The seeds are known as coriander and are used in many world cuisines, particularly in Indian food. Cilantro is easy to grow and will provide fresh greens throughout the growing season, but should be replanted every six weeks for a continuous harvest.

Instructions

    • 1

Thin the plants once they are established so they are spaced 7 to 10 inches apart. This ensures that the remaining plants have enough room and nutrients to grow.

    • 2

Cut off the flower stalk to slow down the death of the plant and allow for a longer harvest.

    • 3

Harvest the leaves when the plant is 4 to 6 inches tall by cutting them off. Continue harvesting them throughout the growing season.
