Fill each compartment of the plug tray with a coarse potting mix. Most herbs thrive best in well-drained soil.
Water the soil until it is damp, but not soggy.
Take 3 to 5 inch cuttings from new branches, directly above a node. For best results, cut the herb early in the morning during active growth.
Place each cutting 1-inch deep in a separate plug tray compartment. Cover the bottom of the stem with soil and mist it with water from the spray bottle.
Set the tray in a sunny spot with diffuse light.
Place a plastic bag over the plug tray to create a greenhouse-like environment. Mist the plants daily and water the soil whenever it feels dry.
Check the plant roots after two weeks. Remove the bag and transplant the herbs when the roots are fully established.
