How to Pick Concord Grapes

Concord grapes were first cultivated in Concord, Massachusetts in 1849. Concord grape plants can survive for 40 years, and each plant can produce around 20 lbs. of grapes each year. The vines of the Concord grape serve an ornamental purpose in yards when they are grown over a trellis. Once you harvest Concord grapes, you can use them in a variety of recipes. Picking Concord grapes is not any different from picking other grape varieties.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect the grape vines once the color of the grapes deepens to a dark purple.

    • 2

Feel the grapes, gently squeezing them in your hand. The grapes will feel less firm as they ripen.

    • 3

    • 5

Wash the grapes with cool water to remove dirt and debris.
