The Tokay grape is a type of red, seeded table grape that has been grown in California since the mid-1800s. With the introduction of Flame Seedless grapes, Tokay lost a lot of its popularity. It isn't as simple to grow as other grape varieties and is best suited for growth within zones 7 through 10 on the U.S. Department of Agriculture Plant Hardiness Zone Map. Determining whether the Tokay grapes are ripe enough to harvest can be a challenge. Cutting them from the vine is simple.
