Locate a well-draining site in your yard with full sun exposure, preferably to the south of a building. Prepare the selected planting site the fall before planting to enrich it with essential nutrients. Till the soil to a depth of 8 to 10 inches to break up compacted mounds and remove weeds, stones and plant debris. Spread and mix 2 to 3 inches of organic compost and a 10-10-10 fertilizer over the site and rake to level.
Dig 12-inch wide and equally deep planting holes over the prepared soil in early spring. Space multiple holes 6 to 10 feet apart. Pour 4 to 5 inches of topsoil into each hole and level its top. Prune the top of each Reliance pink grapevine down to three buds. Also snip off damaged or long roots before lowering it into a planting hole. Cover the roots with 6 to 8 inches of soil. Water the plants well using a soaker hose.
Provide each plant 1 inch of water every week using a soaker hose. Feed each plant 1 lb. of 10-6-4 fertilizer every year, preferably in spring. Space the fertilizer 6 to 8 inches away from the trunk to prevent rot. Spread 2 inches of organic mulch over the base of the plants to deter weeds.
Insert a 6-foot-tall stake behind every plant soon after planting to train it to climb upward. Tie growing tendrils to the stake with elastic ties. During the second year, install a 7-foot-tall post behind each grapevine and run two parallel lengths of heavy wire between the posts. Attach the growing tendrils to the two horizontals with ties and trim growth in between.
Prune Reliance seedless grapevines once a year, preferably after the growing season. Remove old, damaged or diseased wood to reduce the vine's weight and improve sunlight penetration. Also remove the growth that produces fruit to allow renewal spurs to grow and fruit the following year.
