Instructions

  1. Creating a Large Live Floral Centerpiece

    • 1

Place a layer of styrofoam peanuts into your decorative container. On top of the peanuts, build a 2-inch layer of potting soil. Smooth over and water. If the soil settles, repeat the process until you have an even 2-inch layer of wet soil.

    • 2

Choose the tallest of your flowering plants. Roll the plant pot on its side to loosen the plant and encourage it to slide easily out of the container. Carefully remove it from the pot, allowing any excess dirt to fall away. Place this flowering plant in the center of your container.

    • 3

Follow the same process with your three remaining flowering plants. Circling your center flowering plant, place the others in your container, evenly spaced. First, place your pittosporum in one of the remaining empty spaces, and do the same with the ivy and pothos. Fill in any empty spaces with potting soil, creating an even garden surface.

Use your sphagnum moss to hide any visual dirt. The moss also helps the plant retain water. Place your dried wood sticks vertically on opposite sides of the center flowering plant. Place one stick straight up and the other at a slight angle. Use your Babies Breath sparingly and fill in any darkened areas between the plants.
