How to Germinate Seeds From English Daisies

The English daisy, known for its soft, white petals and golden-yellow center, brings springtime cheer to outdoor gardens and sunny windowsills. Some varieties of English daisy also have pink petals that add a dash of color to your yard. In the northwestern United States, English daisy is often thought of as a weed when found in lawns, because it tends to spread if not contained. English daisy seeds of all varieties germinate readily to fill your garden with color and fragrance.

Fill a 220- or 288-cell plug tray with potting mix. Sprinkle English daisy seeds over the cells.

    • 2

Cover the English daisy seeds lightly with soil or vermiculite. Moisten the soil with cool water.

    • 3

Place the English daisy seeds in a warm spot, ideally between 65 and 72 degrees F. Cover the tray with clear plastic to increase humidity.

Wait for germination to occur in three to seven days. After germination, remove the plastic cover. Let the soil dry slightly before adding more water. If desired, apply fertilizer after true leaves appear.
