How to Make Your Own Flower Fertilizer

Homemade fertilizers contain all of the vitamins, nitrogen and minerals necessary to maintain the health of your plants and have the added benefit of being safe and economical.

Things You'll Need

  • Twenty eggshells
  • One gallon of water
  • Plastic container with lid
  • Cider vinegar
  • Measuring spoon

Instructions

      Place one gallon of water in a pan. Add 20 empty eggshells and boil them for 15 minutes. Tap water is recommended because of its natural alkaline content.

      Set the pan of shells aside, allowing the mixture to steep for eight hours.

      Remove the eggshells from the water and discard.

      Pour the solution into a one-gallon container and seal with a lid.

      Add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and shake gently to mix.

      Apply to flowers and plants once a week to fertilize.
