Where to Hang Fuchsia

The exotic-looking design with purple, pink, red or white blooms makes the fuchsia a stunning display in hanging planters. There are several locations both inside and outside your home where you can hang the fuchsia. However, improper placement will spell disaster for the fuchsia and could damage it beyond repair. Since there is a wide array of fuchsia species, consult your local garden center for more information on your specific species of fuchsia.

Instructions

    • 1

Hang the fuchsia from a location that does not receive too much sun. Fuchsias grow well in partially shaded areas. An excessive amount of sun will dry out the plants’ roots.

    • 2

Keep fuchsias away from locations that receive excess heat, such as next to a window during hot summer months. Too much heat will weaken the plant and result in the flowers not developing properly.

    • 3

Remove the fuchsia from the location if it begins to droop. This is the plant’s way of letting you know that its surrounding is not adequate for proper growth.

    • 4

Water the hanging fuchsia whenever the soil begins to feel dry. Place your finger inside the soil to test for dryness, and water accordingly.

    • 5

Store fuchsias in a dark location during cold winter months. Remove the leaves before storing, which will prevent the plant from growing. Water the stored fuchsia a few times during the winter months.
