Consider weight; foggers can vary between 2 lb. and 20 lb. Propane insect foggers typically come in lightweight, portable containers. Lift the models before purchasing to make sure that you can easily carry the model around the yard.
Decide between pyrethrin and resmethrin. Manufacturers use the chrysanthemum flower to make pyrethrin so this product has a low toxicity threat for humans and animals. The chemical compound resmethrin is similar to pyrethrin and also has a low toxicity for animals and humans.
Figure out how much fogger your yard will need. Larger yards of 1/8 to 1/2 acre require a fogger with liquid capacity of 1 to 5 gallons.
Choose a fogger with an auto-ignite switch. Remember to use caution when starting up the fogger, as some models will ignite with a large flame.
Decide between a handheld model or one with a shoulder strap. Depending on the size of the model, you may want a strap for better control.
Remember to purchase only oil-based fogger liquid. Water-based fogger liquid can easily ignite.
