Wait for the ears of corn to become ripe and ready for picking and eating. Once the ears reach this stage, monitor them until the husks turn brown. This may take up to six weeks.
Pick the ears of corn with the brown husks. Pull the husks back to expose the corn kernels. Leave the ears in a dry, cool spot like a cold cellar or basement, until the kernels are completely dry to the touch.
Hold the ears over a bowl. Twist the kernels of corn off the ear and into the container. The seeds are now ready for planting next season.
