Prepare the hydroponic fertilizer according to the directions on the fertilizer that you choose. Pour the mixture of fertilizer and water into a large container that has rock wool lining in it.
If the rock wool does not fully fill the container, add gravel to fill in the spots between the rock wool. Then cover the container completely with clear plastic wrap.
Using the corn sapling, poke a hole in the plastic and continue straight through the rock wool.
Place the corn experiment on a windowsill or in another area that receives plenty of light. Observe the plant periodically. If the bottom leaves are brown or turning brown, pull off the plastic from the bottom up. Also, the plastic will help the corn stand straight up; you may need to move the plastic wrap higher at some point.
