Instructions

    • 1

Grow the Echeveria derenbergii in full sun. If you live in an area with hot summer sun, provide afternoon shade for the E. derenbergii.

    • 2

Plant the succulent in a cactus mix or other fast-draining soil. You can make your own mix by combining 2 parts of sand and 2 parts of pumice with 1 part each of redwood compost and peat moss.

    • 3

Provide the E. derenbergii with water when the soil feels dry to the touch in spring and summer. Withhold water in winter. Although this plant resembles a cactus, it grows in high elevations in nature and requires more water than a desert cactus.

    • 4

Fertilize the E. derenbergii in the spring with a cactus and succulent fertilizer, diluted to half the strength recommended on the package. Too much fertilizer will harm this echeveria.
