How to Make Cuttings of Blueberry Plants

Blueberries are a favorite fruit of children and adults of all ages. Though blueberries are readily available in grocery stores nationwide, there is added satisfaction to growing your own. Blueberries are easy to grow in pots, and you can easily make cuttings to transfer part of the plant into different pots. They grow best outside, so make sure to keep the pots in an area that is exposed to the elements, even during the winter months.

Instructions

    • 1

Identify shoots on the blueberry plant that are green, but just about to turn woody. Cut off these shoots so that they are about 10 centimeters long.

    • 2

Remove all leaves from the sides of the shoot.

    • 3

Cut the shoot again at the point where the lowest leaf used to be.

    • 4

Put several large drops of rooting hormone onto a clean surface, and dip the shoots into the hormone. Make sure that the cut surface of the shoot is covered.

    • 5

Mix peat and sharp sand in a small pot. Plant the shoot in the mixture.
