Select a large container for your blueberry plant. Plant 1-gallon bushes into 4 to 5-gallon containers, and 2-gallon plants into 7 to 10-gallon containers. When in doubt, chose the largest container possible. Set the container on the drip tray to protect floors.
Fill the container one-third full with a mixture of one part acidic potting soil to one part peat moss. Add 2 tablespoons of soil sulfur to each container. Place the blueberry root ball into the soil and back fill with equal parts acidic potting soil and peat moss. Cover the soil with a 1-inch layer of bark or mulch.
Place the blueberry plants near a sunny window that receives full sunlight in the morning and early afternoon but has filtered light or shade in mid- to late afternoon.
Water thoroughly until soil is moist but not dripping. Continue watering deeply twice a week throughout the growing season, cutting back during the winter months.
Fertilize monthly with an acidic fertilizer formulated for azaleas and rhododendrons. Apply according to the directions on the manufacturer's label.
