The Size of a Blueberry Bush

Blueberry plants or bushes are measured by the height that they attain and the width or circumference of the area that they grow over. The largest blueberry bushes can grow to 6 feet high and 8 feet wide.
  1. Height

    • Blueberry bushes grow from 1 1/2 to 6 feet high depending on the variety and maintenance of the plantings. The Northcountry, which grows in USDA hardiness zones 3 to 8, reaches a height of 2 feet while the Jersey, in USDA zones 3 to 7, can grow 6 feet tall.

    Width

    • A single blueberry bush can spread from 2 to 6 feet in width. Chandler and Jersey blueberry bushes can grow 7 to 8 feet in width. The Northcountry and Patriot blueberry plants grow 2 to 3 feet wide.

    Overall Size

    • The most compact blueberry bush is the Northcountry, which is 2 feet high and 2 feet wide. The largest blueberry bushes are Jersey, Chandler, Blueray, Duke and Rubel with average sizes of 5 feet high by 6 to 7 feet wide. The height gives easier access for the harvest of fruit.
