How to Rinse Raspberries to Kill Fungi

Color alone seems reason enough to consume raspberries. Their rich, red juice generously shares its vivid hue, staining any accompanying dressing, sauce, meringue or whipped topping an appetizing shade of pink. Better still, raspberries offer great health benefits. According to the University of Illinois, they contain ellagic acid, a phytochemical that may inhibit the growth of some cancers. They are also chock full of Vitamin C and fiber and may help to lower blood cholesterol. Unfortunately, raspberries may be exposed to various fungi as they grow.
