What Berry Plants Have Pink Flowers?

Most cultivated berry plants, such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, currants and gooseberries, have white flowers, but a few ornamental plants, as well as wild plants have pink flowers. Always identify berry plants before eating the berries because some plants are poisonous. Study the plant's leaves, stems, fruit and flowers when determining identity.
  1. Pokeweed

    • Pokeweed is a wild plant that produces large green or purple stems that resemble rhubarb. Dull pink, red or purple flowers emerge in the spring, followed by glossy, purple or blue fruit that form in clusters. Pokeweed fruit is known to cause headaches, diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting.

    Dogwood Tree

    • Flowering dogwood trees produce pink or white flowers in the spring, followed by red berries in the fall. The fruit is not toxic, but contact with the leaves and stems may cause a rash. Cherry trees, plum trees and some crabapple trees also produce pink flowers followed by red or purple fruit.

    Wild Bramble Fruit

    • Most cultivated blackberries and raspberries have simple, white flowers with yellow centers. In the wild, though, the flowers range from pink to white. Aggregate black, yellow, red or purple fruit forms in summer. All bramble fruits are safe to eat, although some taste better than others.

    Blueberries

    • Blueberry plants form clusters of white bell-like flowers in spring, followed by fruits in early summer. The blossoms may occasionally be tinged with pink, depending on the variety. Huckleberries are wild cousins to blueberries and have a similar form. Look for the characteristic "X" on the bottom of the fruit. Don't confuse blueberries and huckleberries with poisonous plants, such as pokeberry. The fruit have a matte appearance and may have a white bloom. Pokeberries are very shiny.
