Push the haricot verts seeds 1 inch deep into the soil. Space the seeds 2 to 4 inches apart with rows spaced 18 to 24 inches apart.
Water the seeds immediately after planting. Spray the soil with a gentle mist from a handheld sprayer connected to a water hose. Water the soil just until it appears evenly moist.
Spread an organic mulch, such as leaves, lawn clippings, compost, hay or bark, about 2 inches deep on top of the soil around the haricot verts plants to conserve moisture and suppress weed growth. Rake the mulch until it's level on top of the soil.
Hoe gently around the plants as any weeds emerge to loosen the soil and easily remove the weeds.
Water the green beans at the roots as necessary. Soak the root zone thoroughly and wait to water again until the plants show signs of needing water, such as when the plants turn bluish green or when the plants first start to wilt in hot temperatures.
