Plant stringless pole bean seeds in rich soil with plenty of sun exposure after the last frost. Place each seed one inch deep and six inches from the next seed.
Stringless pole beans form long vines and require support. Use poles for each plant or place poles several feet apart and string twine between them to create a support structure. A trellis, fence or even a row of corn can also provide a climbing surface.
Compared to bush beans, stringless pole beans are much easier to pick. As the beans grow up the supporting structure, there is no need to bend and stoop to pick the beans.
Stringless pole beans can be eaten raw and in the pod when picked young. The usual preparation method involves snapping or breaking the bean into pieces and boiling.
Stringless pole beans come in several variations. Kentucky Wonder is a well-known type, but other beans include Kentucky Blue and Romano Italian.
