How to Treat Green Bean Leaves

Green beans are a common vegetable grown in many home gardens. While the green bean is a hardy plant, it can be susceptible to infestations of mites, spiders and beetles. With the help of a proper, nontoxic insecticidal treatment, your green bean garden can remain hearty and healthy. Instructions

    • 1

Check the green bean leaves regularly to make sure they are not showing signs of diseases or bites. Browning and brittle leaves are two common symptoms of infestations.

    • 2

Make a treatment solution. Mix 1 gallon of water with 5 tbsp. gentle, non-bleach dish soap. Stir the soap and water together until they are thoroughly mixed.

    • 3

Fill the treatment solution into a spray bottle and tightly close the lid.

    • 4

Spray the solution directly onto the infected leaves so they are covered completely with the mixture. Also coat the back of the leaves with the solution.

    • 5

Allow the soap to settle on the leaves for several hours, then rinse the leaves with plain water.

    • 6

Repeat the process every day for four to seven days to kill the infestation.
