Place enough water in a bowl, cup or container to cover the lima beans.
Soak the lima beans in water overnight.
Remove the lima beans from water the next day.
Place the lima beans on two or three pieces of paper towel.
Cover the lima beans with two or three more pieces of paper towel.
Spray water on the paper towels so that both layers of towels are thoroughly damp.
Place the layered paper towels and lima beans in a large sealable plastic bag.
Seal the plastic zipper bag leaving some air inside the bag to assist with the germination process.
Place the bag in a windowsill or other area with plenty of sunlight to allow the heat from the sun to produce humidity.
Check on the lima beans daily to wait on the sprouts to form and to ensure that the towels stay moist. When they begin to dry, spray them with water again to keep them damp.
