Height of a Royal Burgundy Bush Bean Plant

Royal burgundy bush beans make an attractive addition to the garden. The plants do not require staking, and the purple beans contrast with the plant foliage, making them easy to find in a large plant when harvesting.
  1. Bush Bean Plant Height

    • Royal Burgundy bush bean plants average 15-20 inches tall. Each bean is between 5 and 6 inches long, and the plants take approximately 50-60 days to reach maturity.

    Planting

    • Seeds should be planted after the danger of last frost has passed. Sow seeds approximately 4-1/2 inches deep, and 4 to 6 inches apart. Separate rows by 3 to 4 feet.

    Harvest

    • Beans will be ready for harvest after 50-60 days. For season-long harvest, plant a new crop every one or two weeks, until eight weeks before the first frost. Blanched or cooked beans will turn green, but raw beans retain their striking burgundy color after picking.
