The planted seeds will germinate after around one week. A sprout will appear through the shell of the bean and grow towards the surface. Two small cotyledon or false leaves develop and nourish the plant until the true leaves develop.
During the growth stage the seedling will straighten out. It will put energy into growing height in the stem and developing leaves. Side branches will appear and develop more leaves.
Once the plant has reached a significant size it will start to produce flowers. This happens after around six weeks of growing. The bright yellow flowers attract pollinators to fertilize them.
Once the flowers are fertilized they will start to develop into bean pods around two weeks later. The beans will elongate and fatten. There will be between one and seven beans per pod. On average the cycle of planting to harvesting beans will take around 10 to 12 weeks.
