How to Grow the Best Fresh Basil Ever

      When you get fresh basil at the grocery store and you like the taste, aroma and leaf size, break off a leaf including stem or a longer stem (~2" - 6") with leaves on it.
      Seeds are not predictable so grow basil from a plant you like! Grow your own fresh basil!

      Put the fresh basil leaf or stem in a glass of water, adding water daily as it evaporates. OR simply plant the basil leaf to grow in a cup of moist soil. Keep the fresh basil watered!

      Wait for basil roots to form. When they are lush start picking and using your fresh basil leaves. When you are ready, plant the basil in loose soil in a pot (~4" - 18"). You may also plant it directly in the ground to grow, then transplant into a pot when the weather cools.
      Your basil plant will take off and grow given daily watering whenever possible, and warm weather if outdoors.
      This is the only way to assure that you have the fresh basil you like!
