How to Save Zinnia Seeds To Plant Next Spring. Free Flower Seeds

Here is how to save zinnia seeds for next year so you have free flower seeds

Instructions

    • 1

Plant a hardy variety of Zinnias to harvest in the fall. Zinnias are one of the most prolfic garden flowers and one of the prettiest. They endure high heat, insects, lack of water and still produce the most amazing blooms.

    • 2

Don't discard the brown flower heads. Leave them in the garden until they dry. When the blooms have gone brown and are totally dry, pluck the flower head from the stem and crumple it in your hand into a plastic ziplock bag. The areas around the center stem, where the petals where, are the seeds.

    • 3

Throw away the round center and place the bag in a dry area, such as the cupboard, Don't seal it tight for a few days, allowing any remaining moisture to leave. Then, press out all of the air from the ziplock bag and label. Save it in a dry, dark place.
You can plant these seeds in the spring just as you did with the ones you bought, only this time you will have many, many more seeds. For more information on how to grow a garden cheaply see the article in the resources section below.
