Decide on the location for your salvia plants. Although they will bloom in almost any conditions, they prefer full sun.
Work the soil with your trowel to make a hole twice the size of the plant root. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of the fertilizer with the soil removed from the hole.
Place the salvia plant into the hole. Return the soil to the hole, tamping down the soil to ensure the roots have good contact with the soil.
Water the plant with a small amount of lukewarm water to prevent shocking the plant from the transplanting process. Give the plant a small amount of water each day for a week if there has been no rain.
