How to Bring Dried Out Petunias Back to Life

Petunias are vibrant annuals that come in a variety of bright colors. They are a favorite among gardeners who want a colorful garden during the summer. Petunias do best in hot and sunny climates and are relatively easy to care for. However, petunias can dry out quickly if they are not tended regularly. In most instances, the petunias can be brought back to life in a few easy steps.

Carefully prune back all the brown and dried stems and blooms, leaving only a small portion of the stem visible above the soil. Do not cut any stems that are still green.

    • 2

Mix the plant food with water according to the plant food's label and water the petunia until the soil is soaked through.

    • 3

Place the plant in a sunny spot and monitor the moisture of the soil daily. Keep the soil moist until the plant begins to show new growth.

Once the petunia has started growing again, it may be fertilized or transplanted to another container.
