When to Plant Lavender Mountain Lily Bulbs

Description

• The stem of the lavender mountain lily reaches 12 to 18 inches in height. The color of the flower is blue or lavender with dark blue or dark lavender contrasting stripes and gray-green colored leaves.

Considerations

• Plant lily bulbs in the late fall or early winter seasons. The ground is still soft enough for digging to the required depth and close enough to winter to allow the bulb to remain dormant until it is ready to sprout in the spring.

Environment

• This lily loves bright sunlight and nutrient rich soil mixed with compost that contains nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The lily needs a well-draining soil in order to soak up the nutrients and water. After you plant the bulbs, place a layer of mulch on top of the soil to protect the bulbs during the cold winter months. The plant needs liberal watering through springtime growth.
