Calendula (Calendula officinalis), sometimes called pot marigold, is a colorful, annual herb native to Europe. It grows 1 to 2 feet tall and has vibrant blooms in various shades of yellow, red and orange. Calendula germinates readily from seed and can be sown directly into a prepared garden site, once the average soil temperature is at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. It thrives in sun or part shade and fertile soil that drains well.
