Flowering Vines for Hanging Pots

Hanging baskets allow you to grow vines in smaller areas, such as a balcony or porch. Your biggest challenge will be keeping the vines moist --- some varieties may need to be watered several times a day when the weather is hot. Feed vines monthly with a liquid fertilizer. Perennial vines may need to be root-pruned each year if they are kept in a container. To prune the roots, use a knife to shave off about an inch of the root ball in the winter or early spring, and then cover them with fresh potting soil.

It should be placed in full sun or partial shade. It likes a rich, loamy soil. Roots should be kept crowded to encourage more flowering. Don't water on a schedule. Instead wait until the soil is dry to help the bougainvillea to flower better.
