How to Mow Creeping Thyme

Creeping thyme grows no more than 3 inches tall, but its thick foliage gives it a lush appearance. Over time, this ground cover can become so dense that it smothers out older growth and leaves bare places. The foliage may also develop a lackluster appearance, and growth may slow. Renew the vigor of creeping thyme by mowing, which shears the tops of the plants and encourages healthy new growth to emerge. The best time to mow creeping thyme is late spring to early summer, after flowering is complete.
