Grants for Wine Growing

The wine industry is a growing field throughout the United Sates. Several states offer grants to individuals who are studying the science of viticulture and to farmers who have land ready for growing grapes. These grants help recipients enhance their knowledge of the industry and have a positive economic impact in the region.
  1. Grants for Farmers

    • As of 2011, the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission offered a grant for farms in several counties to go toward the purchase of wine grape vines. This grant is a joint effort with the University of Maryland Extension and SMADC.

    Research and Education

    • As the fifth largest wine-producing state, the Texas Department of Agriculture offers wine growing grants that are intended to benefit the growth of the industry in Texas. The grant money, which was still being offered as of June 2011, will go toward viticulture research, oenology education and the implementation of wine tourism in the state.

    Investing in Knowledge

    • The Wine Society of Texas offers a scholarship grant program for individuals who are studying oenology and viticulture in educational institutions in Texas, involved with winery internships or working in a field of study in wine making. The mission is to invest in the knowledge of viticulture and increase an awareness and appreciation for the wine industry.
