How to Grow Scindapsus on a Stick

Scindapsus, also known as pothos or Devil's ivy, is a vining plant commonly grown indoors. This variety of vine is low maintenance, grows quickly and survives in multiple lighting conditions and temperatures. Leave the plant to go grow freeform, or grow it on a stake to enjoy its upright appearance. Growing Scindapsus on a stick saves room and keeps the plant tidy because it will not overflow your container.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold a 24-inch garden stake in a plant pot, off center by 2 inches. Fill the pot with potting soil while you hold the stake in place so it is secure.

    • 2

Remove the Scindapsus from its container. Use your hand to dig a hole in the new container's soil that is the same size as the plant's root system. Lower the plant into the hole and firm the soil around the base of the plant.

Train the plant to grow up the stick as it becomes more mature. Use a twist tie to secure the vine to the bottom of the stick. Add another twist tie every inch until the vine has secured itself to the stick. Remove the ties when the plant is secure.
