Prepare the garden site by loosening the soil 8 to 10 inches deep.
Amend the soil with 3 to 4 inches of organic compost to add nutrients and improve drainage.
Water the containers the cypress vines are growing in just before transplanting. Add enough moisture to dampen the soil, but not so much that it feels soggy.
Remove the vines from their containers by holding them upside down and spreading your hand over the top, taking care not to damage the vines. Tap the edge of the containers lightly against a firm surface until the root ball slides free easily.
Plant the cypress vines at their original level and cover the roots thoroughly with the amended garden soil.
Mix 1 tbsp. of high-grade phosphate fertilizer with 1 gallon of water. Moisten the soil around the cypress vines with the solution right after planting.
Place 3 inches of organic mulch around the vines. Keep it a distance of at least 2 inches from the plant's stem.
Water the vines anytime the top 1/2 inch of soil feels dry.
