How to Decorate With Tillandsia

Unusual and interesting, tillandsia is an air plant that doesn't require potting soil to thrive and grow. Tillandsia pulls nutrients and moisture from the air using it's porous leaves. Because tillandsia doesn't need soil, it can grow anywhere and may be used for decorating both indoors or outdoors. If you've purchased an air plant, show off its uniqueness by placing it in an interesting planter arrangement. You'll draw lots of attention with some easy decorating ideas for your home and patio.

Instructions

    • 1

Tuck individual air plants into large seashells. Place the seashells on a mantelpiece or use them as a beachy centerpiece.

    • 2

Place tillandsia in hanging glass globes. Hang globes from decorative screws on a porch beam or ceiling near a window.

    • 3

Lay tillandsia inside odd-shaped planters and hang them from a tree in your yard. Filtered light from the tree will provide needed nutrients.

    • 4

Poke small decorative rocks in the bottom of glass apothecary jars. Push small tillandsia plants into the jars. Arrange the jars in a window or on a pretty tabletop.
