List of Ethanol Plants in the Midwest

According to the American Coalition for Ethanol, as of 2007, some 6.2 billion gallons of ethanol were distilled in the United States. As corn is one of the primary feedstocks used in ethanol production, numerous ethanol production facilities have been built in the Midwest, the area commonly known as the Corn Belt. Additionally, approximately 40 percent of U.S. ethanol plants are cooperatives owned by the farmers supplying the corn feedstock and other local investors living where the plants have been built.
