Liquid Seaweed MSDS Garden Basics

Material safety data sheets (MSDS's) offer information about the physical and chemical properties, handling and safety requirements of working with a particular substance in an occupational environment. An overview of the liquid seaweed MSDS shows the substance is considered to be non-harmful.
  1. What is Liquid Seaweed?

    • Liquid seaweed is used as a natural fertilizer for plants and trees and is used also as a hydroponic nutrient. Seaweed has a natural balance of micro and macro nutrients required for plant growth. It acts as a biostimulant helping plants meet their maximum potentials and it works as a soil conditioner by increasing beneficial soil microbes.

    Physical and Chemical Properties

    • Liquid seaweed has a thick green/brown consistency and has an odour of seaweed. It has a neutral pH and is highly soluble in water. It is a stable substance, reacting only with oxidizing materials.

    Toxicology/Hazards

    • There are no known carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic properties of liquid seaweed, and it is therefore classified as a safe, non-toxic substance. Protective clothing and special ventilation are not needed, and the substance is not flammable.

    Storage

    • Store liquid seaweed in an airtight container in a cool dry place.
