How to Make a Stargazer Lily Bouquet

Stargazer lilies are showy blossoms with a sweet, heavy scent. Whether white in color or shaded in deep pinks, these flowers can be easily assembled into an impressive and elegant bouquet by employing a bouquet holder with Oasis, floral tape and stems of greenery for filler. Add a satin bow and your bouquet is complete.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold each stem underwater in the cutting container or sink and cut the stem at an angle three inches below the blossom. Cutting underwater keeps the end of the stem open and moist, which will keep the bouquet fresh longer. Transfer each stem immediately to a water-filled vase.

    • 2

Trim the stamens off each lily blossom, as they contain a potent dye that will stain hands and clothing.

    • 3

Cut each of the stems of pittosporum nine inches from the bottom of the stem, underwater

as in Step 1 -- and transfer the remaining top sections of the pittosporum stems to the holding vase containing the lilies. Remove any leaves from the 9-inch stem pieces and set them aside.

    • 4

Soak the bouquet holder in water for 10 minutes. This will saturate the Oasis, a green, spongy material contained in the center of the bouquet holder. This holds the water supply that keeps the bouquet fresh.

    • 5

Remove the bouquet holder from the water, dry the handle and cover it with double-faced tape, by winding the tape around the handle from top to bottom.

    • 6

Place the 9-inch stems in a row around the handle and press each stem into the double-face tape to secure.

    • 7

Secure the row of stems at the top and bottom; wrapping with waterproof floral tape.

    • 8

Arrange the lilies in the Oasis on the bouquet holder; pushing the stems into the spongy material.

    • 9

Add the tops of the pittosporum stems as filler between the lilies. Add a satin bow with streamers, if desired; attach them with a corsage pin.
