How to Decorate With Magnolias

Magnolia trees are instantly recognizable from their size, deep green color, shiny leaves and large white blooms. The trees are such a fixture in the Southern United States that the fragrant blooms are the state flowers of Mississippi and Louisiana. If you have a magnolia tree in your yard, use its leaves and flowers to create decorations for your home or for a party. The decorations will bring nature and a soft magnolia fragrance inside your home.

Instructions

  1. Magnolia Wreath

    • 1

Use a plain grapevine wreath as the base of your magnolia wreath.

    • 2

Cut small magnolia branches that have several leaves attached. Cut branches with blooms as well, if your tree is blooming. Cover the grapevine wreath with the magnolia branches and attach them with floral wire. Continue doing this until the wreath is completely covered with leaves and blooms.

    • 3

Cut a length of ribbon that is about 2 feet long. Tie the ribbon into a bow and attach it to the wreath with floral wire.

    Magnolia Arrangement

    • 4

Choose a tall vase for the base of your magnolia flower arrangement.

    • 5

Place glass beads in the bottom of your glass vase to give the vase some color and dimension.

    • 6

Cut long stems of magnolia branches that have flowers attached.

    • 7

Place the magnolia stems inside the vase. Place the taller stems toward the center and the shorter ones on the sides. This will create an oval-shaped arrangement.
