Floribunda, a group of modern garden roses, is the result of cross-breeding hybrid tea roses and multiflora roses. Multiflora roses are a species of wild roses native to Asia. The aim of creating floribunda roses was to combine the beauty of hybrid teas with the cluster growth of flowers seen in wild roses. Certain cultivars of floribunda produce continuous flowering, such as Nearly Wild, a pink flowering plant with a slight fragrance, and Playgirl, a reddish flower with a bloom cycle of approximately 28 days. Nearly Wild blooms continuously from May to October or November.
The shrub rose classification covers a wide range of rose plants; the differences between shrub rose plants, vary depending on the flower form or color. Shrub roses also have similarities. For instance, the flowers on shrub roses grow closely to the plant's foliage. Moreover, the stems of shrub roses are able to sprawl out farther than other rose plants. Mountain Music and April Moon are two shrub rose cultivars that feature continuous growth. April Moon produces yellow flowers, and Mountain Music has flowers with a pink/yellow blend. Both cultivars have a bloom cycle of six to eight weeks.
One of the most popular rose types for horticulturists is the hybrid tea. According to Dr. William Welch of Texas A&M University, hybrid tea roses are also known as everblooming roses due to their continuous blooming habits. Some hybrid teas that feature continuous blooms are Peace Rose, a light yellow flower, and Mister Lincoln, which has red flowers with a strong fragrance. While horticulturists commonly plant hybrid teas, the majority of these roses are sold in the marketplace as cut flowers.
Miniature roses are similar to hybrid teas and shrub roses in form but only grow between 1 and 3 feet at maturity. Horticulturists frequently grow miniature roses since they do not take up much space in a garden. Popcorn is a white miniature rose cultivar with a continuous bloom cycle from May to September; this rose variety does not have a fragrance. Another continuous bloom miniature rose is Millie Walters, which features flowers with an orange/peach coloration and slight fragrance.
