How to Make Standing Spray Flower Arrangements

Standing spray flower displays are often created as a sympathy arrangement for a funeral, though such displays may also be utilized for weddings, baby showers, holidays or other special events. Use real, paper or silk flowers, or combine all three. If you find you have a real talent for standing spray flower arrangements, try selling them at craft fairs and flea markets. There is no wrong way to create such displays, as long as there is a sense of symmetry. Incorporate ribbons, greenery or other embellishments into your display or stick to flowers only.

Instructions

    • 1

Cover a floral foam wreath in lightweight, gauzy material if desired. Use a wreath in either a circular or heart shape; lightweight fabric is necessary as you are pushing pins through it and the foam. Secure the ends of the fabric to the back of the wreath with hot glue.

    • 2

Arrange your flowers as desired on the wreath before attaching the flowers to the foam, though the arrangement should feature some type of symmetry. Make a few arrangements if desired and take photos to determine which you like best. Use garlands or other applicable filler material, such as feathers, around the outside edge of the wreath to create the "spray" effect.

    • 3

Attach the flowers to the foam with greening pins; use the greening pins over the individual stems of each flower. Place flowers with longer stems on the inner sections of the wreath, unless you want the stems to be visible. Another option is to trim the stems as desired.

Fill in any bare spots as needed with appropriate flowers or filler material. Apply spray-on glitter to the arrangement if desired, then place it on an easel for display purposes.
