Autumn crocus (Colchicum autumnale) belongs to the Liliaceae family and is a native plant to North America, North Africa and Asia. Begonias (Tuberous hybrids) are in the Begoniaceae family and originate in South America and southern areas of Africa. Dahlias (Dahlia) are part of the Asteraceae family and are native bulb plants to Mexico.
The autumn crocuses are 4-inch diameter flower clusters with pink and white blossoms. The plant grows to heights of 4 to 12 inches from a corm. Begonia blossoms are white, pink, red and yellow flowers with ruffled, serrated or plain edges. Begonias are 12 to 18 inches in height. Dahlias have flowers the size of dinner plates in a rainbow of colors. The plants grow from 12 to 96 inches tall.
The autumn crocus blooms during September. Begonias bud from June through September. Dahlias flower from August to September.
