Fill a pot about a fourth of the way with a high-quality, all-purpose potting soil, which is available wherever garden supplies are sold.
Dig a hole with your hands and spread the roots as much as possible. Look at your bulb and its relation to the pot. The neck should be above the container's rim. Adjust the bulb's planting depth as necessary before you fill it in with more soil.
Pack the soil gently around the bulb and continue to add more soil until half the bulb is covered. The top half should remain above the soil line. Tamp the soil lightly.
Water the bulb with lukewarm water until the water drains out the bottom of the pot. Set the pot in a location where the temperature is 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Water it again only when the soil dries out. Move it to a sunny location after it begins to grow.
