How to Store Iris in the Refrigerator

Iris bulbs can remain in the ground throughout the winter, but if you have purchased your irises after the ground has frozen or too early to plant, you must store them until planting time. The refrigerator is an ideal spot for storing irises until you can plant them, but keep them away from any fresh fruits or vegetables such as apples. These release ethylene gas which can hasten the rotting process of the iris bulbs.
