Spring Holland Bulbs

Holland is known for producing an abundance of flower bulbs. Many of the bulbs are planted in the fall to grow into various types of vividly colored spring flowers. These bulbs require very little care and multiply every year.
  1. Daffodils

    • Daffodils are commonly grown flowers that begin as a Holland bulb. The blossoms are trumpet-shaped centers surrounded by six flat, lower sections. Daffodils may be single or double and can be various shades of white, yellow, pink, orange or even bi-colors. These bulbs must be planted 6 inches deep into well-drained, enriched soil. Daffodils normally bloom in early spring.

    Hyacinths

    • Hyacinths are also a very popular flower that grows from Holland bulbs. This flower has elongated clusters of small blossoms that are very fragrant. The blooms may be a variety of white, pink, blue and yellow. Hyacinth bulbs should be planted in well-drained soil that is in a full sun area. These bulbs need to be planted at least 7 inches deep in the fall.

    Tulips

    • Tulips are one of the most commonly grown types of Holland bulbs. These bulbs need to be planted 4 to 8 inches deep in sandy soil in full or partial sun. Tulips are available in many different varieties. They may be in a wide range of colors and shapes. Some are single blooms, double blooms, or have fringed edges.
